Reflections

Around here, the "boys of summer" means baseball starts with practice in March and doesn't end until October.  There might be a small break in summer, but in baseball it feels like there is no off season.  Batting practice, keeping the skills up, the arms in shape... it goes year round.  So does the laundry and the dirt!  But, as the 2011 season is winding down and I faced the challenge tonight of having two boys with games in two different towns at the same time (in addition to a business function I had to miss!), I needed to reflect.  I needed to take a moment and do what my heart drives me to do.  I needed to capture this moment. … [Read more...]

The days and hours have slipped by me once again.  Just like the days slipping by on the remaining life of these roses.  They were used recently as part of my booth at a local bridal fair, Bliss by Hill City Bride.  I'm finally getting the opportunity to blog about them and the image created as part of my weekly journey through 2011.  I just couldn't resist their wilting blooms against a palette of warm purple.  Enjoy them for yourself! … [Read more...]

It's a little overdue but it's never too late! Last week's image features the one and only Mr. Paisley who was live in concert locally with two great acts to accompany him. We had "boys' night out" with four handsome little men at their first big concert. It was a fun evening for all and we even came away with a cowboy hat perfect for my little cowboy. … [Read more...]

'Tis the season for hugs and kisses... and these are the chocolate and caramel kind!  Standing tall in an army of chocolate is one very iconic emblem of chocolate worldwide, patiently waiting to be chosen.  Happy Valentine's Day on Monday to everyone! … [Read more...]

Image #4 in the 52 week series is a focus on bokeh and texture.  In the hours before a pending snow storm this week, rain fell and was just cold enough to hold onto the trees and begin to freeze.  These droplets were like sparkles, twinkling on the trees.  For winter, it was a pretty sight on the bare limbs for only an hour or so.  The snow storm threatened inches, but in the end we only received the prettiest snow shower that barely covered the ground. … [Read more...]

Week 3 is thinking about milestones.  Our oldest baby reached a really important milestone is his life this week.  He's finally reached the double digit ages!  And, as his parents, we have endured a decade of parenthood.  It's been a decade that changed our lives, as it does for many parents.  It's hard to believe that many years have gone by and that our son is well on his way.  Milestones give you moments of reflection about the time that has passed as well as anticipation for the moments that are yet to come. … [Read more...]

The second week of 2011 is a polar opposite of last week!  Shortly after returning home from some short lived warm Florida weather another beautiful snow fell.  As the sun peeked out it warmed the trees and leaves still hanging around.  As the tree swing still hangs around it also beckons for the snow to leave and spring to come! … [Read more...]

52 Week Project – #1

Week1c

2011 is for embarking on new adventures, new ideas, and new projects!  My goals are to continue to grow both personally and professionally in the new year.  Part of that committment is a 52 week project, capturing an image a week that either captures the essence of our life that week or is a creative challenge.  There's nothing better to start it off than standing in South Beach Miami on New Year's Day!  The weather was warm and wonderful and the palm trees were so tall.  And so begins a year long project to work toward new goals for the new year. … [Read more...]
