Oh the beautiful little bundles of joy that have visited Visions by Heather lately.  What blessings they are to their families!  There’s nothing better than squishy sweet smelling goodness.  They are all perfect little people with beautiful new beginnings.  I am extremely happy they trusted me with their very first images to enjoy forever.  Congratulations to all the new parents, can’t wait to see you all again real soon!

Around here, she’s affectionately known as Miss Amanda.  The joyful sweet face who spent her summer hanging out on the swing and at swim practice with two of my favorite little men.  But, she’s also a lovely young lady who is graduating this year and starting a new journey along with the rest of her Class of 2012 classmates.  Being chosen for this special time in her life meant a lot to me… to preserve this moment in time for her and her family.  She’s a beautiful girl inside and out that shines through every image.  It was a real pleasure to have her in our lives for a short time.  Her senior session was so much fun, mixing some studio headshots along with some time spent around Lynchburg with her brothers and even her little dog.  Be sure to check out the fun collage we put together… she’s such a personality!

I wish only the best for Miss Amanda in the future.

So many adorable faces came to my studio in the recent months. Some faces were first time visitors I was excited to meet, while others were veterans in front of the camera. I was equally excited to see the veterans back again to see how they have grown!  Here are the images of four of those sessions featuring all the little faces.  Some images feature celebration milestones, or some showcase having their very first professional portrait session. Personally, that’s a milestone itself!  Check them out for yourself and let them make you smile.

Inspired by a color palette that caught my eye, I wanted to put together a inspiration board for Wedding Wednesday this week.  I looked around for images that would fit a perfect spring or summer event that was soft but not overly vintage or romantic.  It’s full of peonies and ruffles and the prettiest shades of violet blue.  You just have to see all the pretties I found…Enjoy a little inspiration for your event from this week’s post!

The title really does say it all.  I was recently tickled to be working with not one, but three couples who were expecting a new addition to their families.  They chose maternity photography not only to capture these fleeting moments before the new addition arrives but also incorporated some very excited big brothers and a big sister!  Scheduling a maternity session as part of the Belly & Baby collection I offer gives you a great opportunity to capture some special images celebrating the little miracles that are about to come.  I can’t wait to meet the little babies soon.

To kick it off (no pun intended!) this week’s feature is all about shoes!!  The modern bride is planning her wardrobe from head to toe with personal touches.  It’s not just about the dress, something old, something new, something borrowed, or something blue… it’s also about fabulous shoes!  So it’s my job to make sure that every personal touch is remembered for years to come with some special wedding photography of just the bride’s special shoes.  They describe the bride’s style quicker than any other detail… casual, sparkly, colorful, functional, modest, bold, delicate, trendy or classic… from stilettos to flip flops or even cowboy boots… a girl’s shoes can say a lot.  In addition to saying a lot about her style, she may also opt for her bridesmaids to say a little something special to her by personalizing the sole of her wedding day shoes with a special message.  It’s another small way to remember how special your day is.  Enjoy some of the shoe choices my brides have made.

Although the mild weather and wind makes it feel like fall in the air, the leaves are long gone and blown away and the excitement of pumpkin lattes and caramel apple scents has been replaced.  Family portrait sessions in the fall are the perfect fit.  Warm and cozy sweaters, rich colors, snuggling close, laughing in the leaves… they are such fun memories to reminisce about.  The season has passed, but there are still some memories captured in the fall for two more families that I love sharing with you.  It was a pleasure to be their chosen family portrait photographer this Fall.

Once sons and daughters begin their own families, they may make their own home within minutes of home, or sometimes it may be hours or states away. For some families they get the opportunity for family gatherings frequently like Sunday dinners, but for others they may only see everyone once or twice a year. It was my honor to be called by three different families this fall for a family portrait session of everyone together.  From the beautiful views of family farms, to seeing family trees carved with loved ones initials, and to gathering around the Christmas tree… I got to be a part of it all.  Enjoy the images of these three families, large and small, who were all together and took time for a family portrait session. For themselves, and future generations of their family, they will always remember their loved ones with the portraits from their session. Thank you again to the Roach, Jones, and Smith families.

I had the opportunity to photograph Lauren’s senior session this year just as Fall was beginning. The golden leaves of the Poplar trees were boldly shining and some were starting to fall as others started to turn their autumn hues. This season has grown to be a more popular time of the year for senior portrait sessions.  Lauren has such a kindhearted, funny and sweet personality and it shines through in her portraits.  She has been such a pleasure to meet and work with for this milestone in her life.  Best wishes to Lauren in her final year of high school.

I’ve needed to catch up on my blog posts and plan on being very busy over the next week or two featuring all of the year end portrait sessions.  This session was for another Appomattox senior, Dylan.  Being a senior portrait photographer can have a great balance of creativity and necessity. I get to know each senior and capture them for who they are with a fun session for their senior pictures and also give Mom and Dad something to remember for years to come.  For Dylan, it was integrating his personal passion of baseball taken on his home field with a blend of rustic and casual outdoor images, too.  I’m thankful for the trust to capture something to always remember these times.  Enjoy my visions for Dylan’s senior portraits.
